Hoop! There it Is

MTV2 has teamed with Nike to bring us a new show called "Battlegrounds," which will chronicle street basketball teams as they battle for the ultimate $50K cash prize and of course some custom Nike shoes. Like much of MTV's programming, this is really about marketing -- in this case, marketing really expensive Nike shoes to urban teens – many of whom are too poor to buy them. Idealism aside, it's also about celebrating the cultural phenomenon of street ball, which according to MTV, is inextricably tied to music.
