Hollywood Gets Bloggy With It

Wired had a story about how [gasp] Hollywood has discovered the value of advertising on blogs, social networking sites and game sites to reach young men. The story cites Jupiter Research saying guys are spending more time online and talks about the how the "Manchurian Candidate" is advertising on political blogs. For great coverage of this type of stuff check out The Movie Marketing Blog.

Jupiter stats:

  • One-third of all adults now prefer to get movie reviews and listings online over newspapers, television, magazines and radio
  • Among younger adults, the numbers are even bigger
  • 47 percent of 18- to 24-year-olds prefer the Web to traditional media for information about movies, versus 33 percent of 35- to 44-year-olds and 24 percent of 45- to 54-year-olds
  • Sort of related and also from Wired (magazine):

The Lost Boys (How the 18-34 male is reinventing advertising.)
