Huckapoo Hopes to be the Next Spice Girls

Posted by anastasia on 01-24-2005

Newsday spends time rehearsing with the tween supergroup in training Huckapoo and learns that "if all goes according to plan, Huckapoo will soon release enough records, T-shirts, dolls and cosmetics to rival Mary-Kate and Ashley's empire." Ypulse covered Huckapoo's buzz building summer camp tour months ago. The girl band is being produced by ex-stockbroker Brian Lukow who was behind the now defunct boy band Dream Street. Like the Spice Girls, the girls of Huckapoo will play characters: "Groovy Tuesday would be the hippie, Joey Thunders the punk rocker, and so on."

This is funny to me because there is a totally unrelated story about the revival of the troll dolls — now Trollz for the tween market. And guess what? They are each characters too: "bookish Sapphire; ditzy, fashion-savvy Topaz; spoiled group leader Ruby; goth-ish Onyx; and Troll-next-door Amethyst." Maybe they should make Huckapoo Trollz…

Huckapoo are hardcore say Geph. Geph loves huckapoo. Huckapoo brings Geph joy in a world full of hate. Huckapoo is the only reason Geph wakes up in the morning.
