Seeing the World Through a Lens

For teens who love to snap pics, National Geographic's short Photo Camps are the opportunity of a life time. The camps are taking place this summer in Miami, New York, Washington, D.C., and San Francisco.

Here's how the process works: "The photographers will brief the students on their photographic vision and techniques, accompany them on assignments, critique their work and guide them through the process of creating a story." Nikon donates the cameras.

In San Francisco, teens photographed North Beach, parts of Chinatown and the Embarcadero. Check out their choice of photographs published on SFGate.com. Guess it takes a new view to capture everyday splendor. Since the teens were untrained photographers, their pictures are much more unexpected. You can also check out photographs from past projects at VisionWorkshops.org (National Geographic's partner in the camps).
