Two studies. Interesting stats. The first is from the BIGresearch Simultaneous Media Survey and was reported in Media Life Magazine. Survey said: "adults 18-24 have the highest percentage of users of blogs, instant messaging, digital music players, satellite radio, picture phones, text messaging, digital video recorders and web radio. But 25-34s lead in adoption of satellite radio and DVRs. BIGresearch says that new media actually pushes 18-24s to use traditional media radio, magazines and newspapers more."
The second is from Arbitron and was reported in the Media Post (reg. required). Note that the sample on this one is too small to be conclusive. The gist is: "The number of people who use cell phones as their exclusive or primary telecommunications device is growing rapidly, and this raises important questions about their media consumption patterns--especially for mobile media such as radio. Cell phone-only users are younger and male, and index much higher among African-Americans and Asians than the general population."
