Teen Reality Stars Mating With Real Celebs

Season Two of MTV's pseudo-reality show "Laguna Beach" ended this week and already one of its teen stars [Talan] is making headlines for getting engaged to his very new girlfriend Kimberly Stewart.

I enjoy watching "Laguna Beach," but have been obsessing lately over just why it is that the teens on the show are suddenly celebs, namely Talan who doesn't really get all that much airtime on the show. A recent issue of Teen Vogue had a feature on Talan's rockstar aspirations, but with no real details about why he's rock star material. He's hot and all, but why on earth is this guy famous? In a Rolling Stone cover story about the major "Laguna Beach" star Kristin there was talk of Talan's previous connection with Lindsay Lohan and that Lindsay caught pals Talan and Kristin in bed together. Is it just me, or is it completely weird that these teen reality stars' worlds are so quickly intersecting with more mainstream celebs? And now this….Talan engaged to Rod Stewart's daughter (and Paris Hilton pal) Kimberly. MTV has got to be loving it! Hopefully the publicity machine will keep in motion until the spring premiere of the "Laguna Beach" spin-off "The Hills," which will follow L.C. as she tackles L.A. Perhaps that show will include some cat fights with her rival Kristin and maybe some appearances by her other celeb party gal pals.
