The other day one of my Current TV co-workers sent around an email with a link to a Dutch German (my bad!) Flash site where you could create your own "South Park" character. It spread like wildfire. Soon most of the staff had created them and they are now on Current's Myspace blog. Already a Current TV "Myspace friend" posted that her friends have all created their own characters, too. This is a perfect example of a fan taking the brand ("South Park") and creating something that allows people to interact and customize.
It's funny because just as I was thinking about posting this, today's Trend Central (they are a Ypulse advertiser) came into my inbox featuring three more sites where you could make your own superhero, anime character or Silhouette cutting.
In other big Comedy Central news, "South Park" and "Chappelle" will soon be mobile and "Reno 911" will soon be a movie (I wonder how it will compare to the old "Police Academy" flicks). Also, Comedy Central is producing a bunch of original broadband shows for Mother Load (reg. required).

LiveJournal users have been creating South Park-based avatars for their userpics for years now. Here's one community devoted to them: http://http://www.livejournal.com/community/southpark_icons/
Almost a thousand fans here:

The staff are fans too -- most of our servers were originally named after characters, but we grew too fast for the show to keep up...
