First, to my newsletter subscribers: You may not get your daily update today. We just moved to a new system, and I want to test it and make sure the right list was imported. I apologize in advance, but I don't want to accidentally spam anyone.
Quick international update -- so far the following Ypulse readers responded from around the world to help take Ypulse global. It will take us a couple of weeks to ramp up, but you should be seeing more new voices and posts soon:
Sarah in Osaka
Alan in Austrailia
Javier in Mexico City
Charles in Bangkok
Dani in Amsterdam
I would still love to cover India, anywhere in Africa and mainland China (even though it will probably be censored!). So keep emailing me from more cool places.
Finally, I will be announcing some very exciting news later this week. But in the meantime, I wanted to share my upcoming speaking engagements in October and to let readers know I will be available for speaking at conferences and can do customized workshops for groups/agencies beginning in late October throughout the year. Just email me.
October 12: The Texas Conference for Women (Young Women's Program: Your Life Online, Navigating in a technology-driven world) - I will be joined by my friend Elaheh Farmand, who was on the Meet Judy Jetson panel at SXSW Interactive this past spring!
October 13: The Michigan Librarians Association annual conference in Detroit where I'm hoping to pull together a local teen panel to discuss teens and technology.
October 14: (crazy weekend) I will be on a BAVC panel at the True2Life Digital Media Day back home in San Francisco called "Shake-Up in Cyberspace."
December 4-6: I will be leading a session on Totally Wired teens at the innaugural Youth Power Exchange conference in San Diego.
My book comes out in March of this year and I will be planning book launch parties in both San Francisco and NYC. Also I will be planning a Ypulse mixer this fall in NYC and this spring in Los Angeles. So feel free to get in touch if you want to help/sponsor, etc.
