New Mashup, Podcasting & More
Posted by anastasia on 10-05-2006I wanted to give everyone a heads up that the next Ypulse Teen Media Mashup will be in San Diego on Tuesday, December 5th, held in conjunction with the Youth Power Event. I am partnering with Premise, who will host this Mashup in their very cool downtown San Diego offices. Transportation will be provided from the conference to the Mashup - leaving at around 6:45-7 p.m.
The roundtable will be something along the lines of "what brands can learn from the action sports world about how to reach youth in an authentic way." There will be music, cocktails and art as well as a lively discussion. I will announce more details as we finalize them. You must RSVP to attend as space is limited. If you already know you're going to San Diego for Youth Power and want to be on this guest list, feel free to email me.
Next up: I want to podcast these Mashups so Ypulse readers who are not in these cities or can't come to the events, can still listen to the roundtable discussions. I have no clue how to do this. Is there anyone in NYC who might volunteer to help make this happen for the November 8th event? I'll give you a free Ypulse t-shirt….
While I'm talking about podcasting, I've finally got the itch (just not the know-how). I am hoping to form a collaboration with the folks at Youth Sounds and PodShow to create a weekly teen-driven podcast about youth media and marketing. The format will be something along the lines of them letting you know what they think of various ad campaigns, web site launches, etc. I'll let you know what happens. And of course this podcast will be sponsorable (is that a word?) - so if you're interested, let me know.
Finally, I am flying to Miami at an insanely early hour tomorrow to do my first post-Current TV consulting gig for a large cruise ship company. This means, late posting (like 4 or 5 EST, if at all, no guarantees).
P.S. Look for the new Totally Wired blog early next week…it's almost ready.

Beware of PodShow. I would suggest keeping your podcast YOUR podcast. Top podcasts like TWiT and KATG don't affiliate themselves with PodShow because you give the rights of your show to them. Yes, they may have just gotten 15m of funding but what exactly does that mean for the plethora of casts on their network? Not so much and you lose creative rights. Find other ways to promote yourself - you have so many advertisers wanting your avenue so build your own brand, not help PodShow own you. That's just my personal suggestion, do some research, read the contracts, and so on.
