The Totally Wired Blog is Live
Posted by anastasia on 10-09-2006
Just a quick note to let you know the book site is up and running. You can tell people to go to Totallywiredbook.com. A big thanks to my amazing webmaster Erim Foster for designing and building this site. I plan to post an entry or two later today. I'm sure a lot of you are thinking, ugh, another site? Why not just blog it here?
The Totally Wired blog is primarily for parents but should also appeal to teachers, librarians, school administrators, youth workers — anyone who is working with teens. It will explore and expand on themes in the book that come up every day in news stories and research about how this generation is integrating technology into their lives. You will see some of the same articles posted here and on Totally Wired — but they will have a bit of a different spin (i.e. Ypulse has more of a marketing bent, TW has more of a parenting bent). You can read an excerpt from the introduction here.
So once I have a few more entries posted, please help spread the word to all of your friends who are parents of tweens and teens. Tell them to check out the blog and of course, to pre-order the book. I'm also going to create a separate book profile on MySpace and possibly a separate Ypulse profile. I'm realizing combining my personal profile even with Ypulse is kind of weird. Do I accept everyone to be my friend? Two blogs, three MySpace profiles….so confusing [sigh].

Anastasia, congratulations on your book. I can't wait to read it, and am so glad you'll be blogging for those of us who love teens and tweens without trying to sell them anything. It's going to be helpful for both of my vocations — writing books for YAs and parenting them. I'm sure I'll be linking to your posts from my parenting blog as well as from the Fire Escape.

Hey Anastasia - I was looking forward to looking at the site, but it isn't working well with my Safari browser on the Mac. Actually, this site used to not really flow correctly on it before, but it does now. But I don't know if you need to mention that to your designer for any Mac web browsers who don't use Firefox.

Hey Zinelife — can you tell me what version of Safari you are using and which version of the Mac OS you have?

I can't wait to read it. I hope some of my insights from inside the education world helped you out. This really is a totally wired world. Take it from someone who ineracts with these kids everyday.
Congratulations!
