Ypulse Happenings
Posted by anastasia on 11-27-2006Just a quick post to update you on a few Ypulse projects. I just launched a separate Totally Wired profile on MySpace this weekend and will be mirroring those posts on both MySpace and my Amazon page. If you're on MySpace, send a friend request — the book needs friends!
My attempts at going international have met with sincere interest, but unfortunately little follow through (everyone wants to blog until they actually have to make the time to sit down and write - it's hard, I know). In the wake of the good intentions expressed from my readers around the world, I may partner with former MTV Asia vet Paul MacGregor, who just launched a link site called Three Billion - it's a youth marketing site rounding up news and trends from a global perspective. Paul has offered to write an occasional post summarizing what's happening with global youth on Ypulse. Look for it soon.
The Ypulse podcast is on its way to becoming a reality. I'm meeting with a group of potential teen interns this Friday at BAVC (Bay Area Video Coalition) to kick off the project. We plan to spend some time developing the concept into an entertaining bi-weekly show that will hopefully launch this winter. This podcast is very sponsorable. I'm going to host it on Podomatic (we're going to pay for hosting and design a cool page), so the sponsorship will be audio (integrated into the podcast) and text links on the page vs. banner ads. Just email me if you're interested.
Next week I'll be in San Diego for the Youth Power conference where I'm leading a session on "totally wired" teens. If you are planning on attending the conference or are in San Diego for any reason, RSVP to the Ypulse San Diego Teen Media Mashup on December 5th. There will be art, cocktails, music, an incredible non-profit organization and of course an interesting discussion about "What Youth Brands Can Learn From The Action Sports World." The press release will go out to the world this Thursday. You can find the event details here.
Finally, a huge thank you to people who are requesting post cards. To me, this is word of mouth marketing at its best. I have sent post cards to Texas, Illinois, Los Angeles, Oklahoma, Florida, North Carolina and Turkey!
