RU Thinking About Sex? Habbo Is!

RU ThinkingWe all know that teens are talking about sex with each other online (just like they do offline) or are Googling to find information and resources about pregnancy, STDs and other sexuality related issues. The problem with this is that they may not be critically evaluating the information they find online and teens tend to give each other advice that, well, isn't always so accurate. Maybe in a perfect world, teens could talk to their parents openly about all of the sex-related questions they have. Unfortunately, this just isn't the case -- especially in the U.S. where our government promotes abstinence while the entertainment industry promotes having sex. I'm assuming parents and teens aren't talking much in the UK either, which is the reason for this new campaign in Habbo Hotel.

Sexwise, a free confidential hotline for kids under 18 in the UK, has teamed up with Habbo Hotel to create the following RU Thinking campaign. From the website:

Over the next three months in Habbo Hotel, trained RU Thinking advisors will be hosting regular relationship advice sessions to provide you with confidential information on all aspects of relationships.

To keep these sessions as useful as possible, each will feature a particular relationship issue or concern. You should check the schedule below and see what is most appropriate for you. These sessions will take place in the 'adviceberg'- one of Habbo's coolest rooms!

You can visit the room to talk to the advisors about any questions you may have in relation to that session's particular theme.

Within the 'adviceberg' you can speak to an advisor in a group session or on a one-to-one basis. Habbo moderators will also be present throughout the sessions.

I know this will probably freak some parents out, but I would rather have teens get their questions answered by trained experts than by their BFFs.
