Ypulse Essentials: Weatherkids, It's A 'Hannah' Halloween, Colbert For Prez

Natalie Portman on ScholasticNatalie Portman = Mathlete? (Natalie graces the cover of Scholastic Math!) (via Fishbowl L.A.)

- Weatherkids (the new kids' site from The Weather Channel is live)

- Kids want their 'Wonderpets' (beating out other kiddie shows in this week's Younger Viewer ratings. Plus are virtual worlds created by toy companies teaching children that they are first and foremost consumers?) (Media Life) (BBC)

- It's a 'Hannah' Halloween ("Hannah" mania has made her the number one searched for costume online) (press release)

- Steven Colbert would sweep the youth vote... (if he were really running for president...his Facebook group [have to be registered to see it] has more members than Obamas in just a week. Plus Media Life reported "the Comedy Central faux news commentator fared best among young voters -- he received around 30 percent of the vote among voters 18-29 in the above races, higher than the Republican candidate in both cases.")

- 'Friday Night Lights' to teach safe driving (in an episode sponsored by Allstate. Allegedly there is no blatant product placement, just a plot where Coach teaches Julie how to drive...safely. Plus fans not happy about "the murder.") (New York Times, reg. required) (L.A. Times, reg. required)

P.S. I'm flying home to San Francisco tomorrow and will be back on west coast time Monday...
