Ypulse Stat Roundup

Just a few interesting teen oriented stats I stumbled across today:

Almost half of all Americans under 30 have one [a tattoo], and 40 percent of adults 26 to 40 have a tattoo. - from an article called "Inked for Christ? Tattoos and the Church.

Since one in five kids in the U.S. is Latino, it's no surprise that the Latino youth market is growing six times faster than other market segments. Also, Latino teens spend 4% more than the average American teen. - from "Hispanics making a huge impact on American society," New York Daily News.

They estimate that there are approximately 25 million shoplifters in our country (about 1 in 11 Americans), and about 25 percent of shoplifters apprehended are juveniles. Studies show that when kids steal from stores, about 70 percent of them do not plan their thefts in advance, but about 30 percent do. The vast majority of teens who steal say that they do not do it out of need or greed, but as a response to personal or social pressures in their life. Often they do it because they feel pressured by friends, want to fit in with a certain crowd by having the latest fashions and electronics, or steal merchandise on a dare. - from "Is Your Child A Future Felon?", MSNBC/Today Show
