Longtime readers know that I am a fan of sexuality education that is empowering and real. There are lots of good reasons for teens to wait, but they shouldn't have to learn to fear and loathe their bodies or sexuality as part of that message. I just discovered the Midwest Teen Sex Show via NewTeeVee, and while I think it will definitely offend a lot of adult sensibilities (and some readers' values), I found it funny, edgy, refreshingly frank and extremely teen-friendly as in teens would really like this. The site claims to be "sex information" that's "for entertainment purposes only." It's produced by a Midwestern mother of three who also teaches creative writing to high school students. Beware, the Halloween episode is pretty violent. You can watch all of the episodes on Blip.tv.
P.S. Check out this really interesting piece in today's New York Times, reg. required, on how researchers are deconstructing hip hop to gain a better understanding of teen sexuality.
