Ypulse Teen Tech Round Up

EchoTVMark Ecko has jumped into the online video realm with a new in-store and online video network inspired by his clothing line called EckoTV. Firebrand is trying to "do for the commercial what MTV did for the music video more than 25 years ago: turn promotional material into content viewers actually seek out." MediaWeek asks, "Will anybody watch?" Speaking of online entertainment, loved this quote in the Christian Science Monitor piece about how the strike is helping new media:

"It is quite ironic that the biggest beneficiary of the strike right now is the very thing they're striking over," says Jen Grogono, cofounder and chief content officer of ON Networks, an online video site based in Austin, Texas.

The New York Times, reg. required, also ran a piece on how TV is transforming into many smaller screens. The Washington Post, reg. requires, looks at the growing business of covering high school sports online. And Gaia Online makes deals with Sony Pictures Television and Warner Bros. to distribute video in its virtual world. (Hollywood Reporter).

The Media Post, reg. required, blogs about Disney's gaming strategy and Blizzard Entertainment (makers of World of Warcraft) just merged with Activision is a $18.8 BILLION dollar deal (picture Dr. Evil here).

I had no clue there were so many Russians on LiveJournal -- evidently enough for Six Apart to sell the company to a Russian firm. Jeff Jarvis weighs in on youth and privacy, arguing young people are cool living their lives online as long as they can control their personal data.

Finally, Page Six launches its TMZ-killer (you know when anything is labeled a "killer" by the media, it probably won't be).
