Ypulse Essentials: Motley Crüe's Rock Band Release, The Lorax Challenge, Game Of Tag Becoming Too Violent

Bill CosbyThe Cos (to release a hop-hop album described as an "unflinching look at life in the 21st century, but without the profanity, misogyny, violence and braggadocio." Plus Miley "steps up" in an online dance battle - thanks Eric!) (Reuters) (Idolator)

- Motley Crüe (to release a single in the game Rock Band) (Reuters)

- Spleak partners with Hearst (to bring chat and user submitted celeb gossip to its online publishing properties. Plus a Facebook friend told me about this site in France, which seems like a French Zinio for mags. I love that this model is now being spun as "green" - I mean it always has been green but it's a new marketing angle) (press release)

- Cell phones as 'electronic leashes' (takes on a new unsettling meaning in the context of Palestinian girls and dating. Plus MTV to launch a branded phone in France) (Shift6) (Textually)

- Speaking of being green (youth 12-20 can apply for a grant to save the environment via The Lorax Challenge/Youth Venture)

- The S.A.T. game (on Nintendo DS - thanks Derik!) (Alley Insider)

- 'Juno' out on DVD (I'm sure it will be insanely popular...but popular enough to continue the reported "Juno Effect"?)

- Tag is not 'it' (at this school where the classic game has apparently gotten too violent. Thanks Shari!) (Washington Post, reg. required)

- Kids turning a profit (on black market candy sales. It used to be Now and Laters at my middle school - thanks Andrea!) (Daily Press)

Miley spoof... interestingly that video turns up about a week after Jordan McCoy (Bad Boy Records) spoofed Miley's vlog. Short backstory - she was cast as the original Hannah Montana and lost out the part when Billy Ray 'supposedly' offered to be the dad for the first season at no charge if his daughter got the part. Probably a coincidence, but Jordan's included her re-enacting Miley's vlog.

I do find it interesting that a teen with that much exposure is would do such a thing that eventually will 'offend' someone.

Also, yeah - big time. YouTube does not have a standard across the board with what is kosher and what isn't. My daughters music videos were cracking the Top 50 in multiple categories for a couple of weeks and then one day the rankings disappeared. My thoughts are that there are politics involved, perhaps the labels complaining as their artists are getting bumped out of the charts by amateurs. Suprisingly they didn't remove the videos - just disabled them from ranking in the categories they are in (music).

Enjoy! Her most popular clip online. Getting ready for the big show and meeting her buds - the Joe Bros.

Regarding the school which banned "Tag:"

At first that seemed overprotective to me, but after reading the article I decided the school is right:
=========================
This tag involves grabbing people who do not necessarily know they are playing and possibly bumping them to the ground. "Then the kids do 'pyramiding' or 'towering.' They pile on each other. [Sometimes] they call it 'jailhouse' or 'jailbreak,' " because the child has to break out, she said.
