On July 14th I am hosting our first ever Ypulse Books pre-conference event at our annual Ypulse Mashup. We've got tons of fun stuff planned and I am hoping we will spark some new and interesting conversations. I can't wait to hear what our panelists have to say and to see YA author and Scholastic publishing exec David Levithan give the keynote. For a lot of us, we eat, sleep, and breath, young adult literature, but we know it's changing every day. It will be so exciting to exchange information, resources and especially ideas about the new developments on the YA horizon.

Please check out our agenda. We're covering a bunch of different perspectives and in my humble opinion, offering a unique look at the industry as technology and marketing apply in particular. I think authors will especially appreciate these conversations because we often hear that this is an aspect of their job with which they struggle. Also, our Visual Storytelling panel is going to be great. We'll find out why teens are so wild about graphic novels, manga and anime.

When Anastasia first mentioned hosting the Ypulse Books pre-conference to me, it was a no-brainer. I thought, "Of course, it makes total sense and it will be fun." I thought it would be a great experience — something I'd never done before. One thing I've already learned is how much labor and passion go into conferences like this. Don't get me wrong — I didn't do a lot of the hard work, but I was privy to the process and I am so grateful to our team at Ypulse for pulling together such an appropriate apex of our Ypulse Books effort to date. I love covering Books and it will be awesome to meet some of our online community. I'm looking at this event as a way to learn some new ways to give our audience what they want as well. Do me a favor, if you're coming, think about any feedback you'd like to share with me. I really want to communicate with folks about fresh ideas.
