Quick Update: The 2008-09 Ypulse Youth Advisory Board

Posted by anastasia on 08-19-2008

Just wanted to let folks know, I have selected the 2008-09 Ypulse Youth Advisory Board. I literally read through 363 applications and chose 15 members. I've heard from all but two, and if the two members I haven't heard from don't get back to me, I'm going to stick with 13 since the original board size was going to be 10. There were so many great applications that choosing this year's board was incredibly challenging. I went for a diversity in age, race, geography and experience. The plan is for the board to meet [virtually of course!] and begin to define its role and the role of a Ypulse youth advisory community (ages 13-24) on Ning (all of this year's applicants will be invited to join). I'll be working with the board to do a more formal introduction of themselves on Ypulse, but just so you get a sense of who the board will be, I'll list first names, ages and hometowns.

Nina, 14, Mercer Island, WA
Caroline, 15, American in Geneva, Switzerland
Akanksha, 15, Mumbai India
Alyx, 15, Hamilton, Montana
Bruna, 16, Israel
George, 16, Suffolk, UK
Michael, 18, Allen Park, MI
Bernadette, 18, San Francisco, CA
Meg, 19, Flagstaff, AZ
Liz, 19, New York, NY
Seruwo, 19, Kampala, Uganda
Libby, 22, Minneapolis, MN
Matthew, 24, Joplin, MO

A big thank you to everyone who applied and readers who helped get the word out!
