Ypulse Essentials: Jonas Bros. Phenomenon, Teens Luv 'Juicy,' New 'Clue'

Posted by anastasia on 08-15-2008

Jonas BrothersJonas Brothers worth billions? (hmmmm…..lots of speculation from other youth experts over at Portfolio. They are definitely the boy band of the moment complete with rabid fans and an album on track to sell more than Miley's. They also helped MTV rack up gobs of page views and streams last weekend.)

- Next tween big thing? (Clique Girlz according to the Dallas Morning News)

- Juicy Couture's success (fueled by their loyal teen fanbase) (USA Today)

- Emmy Rossum (to be the official spokesperson for PiNKiTUDE, the fashion line targeting teen and young adult women with a percentage of proceeds going to Susan G. Komen for the Cure)

- TV moving from the screen (to just another screen? So says the Christian Science Monitor. And A&E tries games to hook viewers to its high quality programs like the one with the two Coreys [sarcasm])

- Hasbro updates Clue (new characters, storylines for a new generation. And Ford creates a whole team devoted to reaching "millennials" using tech) (Kansas City Star) (Detroit News)

- Teens still texting behind the wheel (48 percent according to this survey. Plus parents teens' number one source for prescription drugs) (Wired) (LA Times)

- Obama rules the Web (and Twitter. Plus Rock The Vote offers mobile swag) (Economist) (TechCrunch)

- Mass animation ("Aniboom is part of a first-of-its-kind endeavor, in which animators from all corners of the globe will be invited to collaboratively produce a computer-generated animated short film for theatrical release.") (Facebook link)

- JuniorU (a new education oriented social networking site. And Teen Diaries, a new site geared towards multi-cultural youth ages 13 - 22 who enjoy urban and pop culture.)

- GirlSpeak (cool non-profit writing project in Chicago - reminds me of Teen Voices - story here) (Medill)

- 'Harry Potter' movie delayed until summer (grumble. grumble.) (Defamer)

P.S. Evidently my generation has a new "manifesto."

Wow. someone remembered that little ole' Gen X existed? Been wondering when that might happen. As a stereotypical Gen-x'er I've been getting very bitter about the coverage the boomers and millenials have been getting, but couldn't be bothered to do anything. ;)
