Ypulse Essentials: SPLOG, 4 Million Barbie Girls, Church Dropouts

Camp CottonCamp Cotton (bringing the "fabric of our lives" and exposure to the fashion industry to a city near you) (Dallas/Fort Worth Star-Telegram)

- 'Friday Night Lights' needs a pep rally (snubbed by the Emmys [hissssss], this great teen drama needs our support. Tune in or Tivo, since it has been relegated to Friday nights) (L.A. Times, reg. required)

- SPLOG (National Lampoon launches a sports humor blog to reach its core audience of 18-24 year old males)

- Stuff by Duff (Hilary expands her empire to include a line of D.I.Y. fashion crafts) (press release)

- Novelist Julia Alvarez writes a non-fiction book (about Quinceaneras ) (Christian Science Monitor)

- 4 million (registered users on Barbie Girls. Plus Zwinky buys TV ads) (press release) (AdWeek)

- McPreschoolers (love McDonalds branded food - I find this disturbing. And Packaging Girlhood says "nice try, Bratz, but you're still too sexy") (AdAge.com, reg. required)

- Students know a little something about economics ("One out of 10 high school seniors who took a new national test could analyze the impact of the unemployment rate on the economy. Two out of five knew enough about tariffs to determine why domestic industries would push for them. And three out of five could identify factors that drive up the national debt.") (Washington Post, reg. required)

- Church dropouts (young people are leaving the Protestant church - thanks Bob!)

- JT & Beyonce lead VMA nominees (plus MTV will measure viewing by the second. And the "Real World" slogs on, this time from Down Under) (MSNBC) (AdAge.com, reg. required) (Reality Blurred)

P.S. I'm very flattered to be included on The W List of top women bloggers (I will try to add to it soon). And, check out this article about the Totally Wired PTA Tour on Divine Caroline. The big sponsor I mentioned the other week is P&G's Beinggirl.com. Real Girls Media is our media sponsor.
