Cities are joining TikTok to reach young people with the reality of COVID-19. YPulse has found the majority of young consumers are taking COVID-19 seriously, some infamously flouted warnings about the virus. Some spring breakers who ignored the seriousness of the pandemic have tested positive for Coronavirus, and now cities are trying to “squash COVID-19 misconceptions.” While some are working with universities, others are going straight to one of Gen Z’s favorite social networks: TikTok. Quarantined young consumers are already on the platform, and city accounts are posting videos to pass along essential information about the virus in entertaining ways to grab attention.
